I heard a word.....
Words are not power, they are sounds eminated to convey a feeling, intention, thought ,mostly for manipulation purposes.
Any "power" perceived comes from the person who hears the words, not the person who speaks them . The word itself is meaningless .
If you block the intention of manipulation(energy sent) by the person who uses the word then the word has no "power". Kind of like"if a tree falls in the woods and there is no one to hear it does it still make a sound" It makes a sound but the sound has no effect.
Tone and intention is what is actually used in ceremony to send or lift intention , you could sing, "I once met a girl from Nantucket" but if it was sung with the right mind set and intention the result would be the same. Why do you think the Buddist and many others just use OM? Toning and intention , not verbage is what matters.
Before the tower of Bable the universal language was tone.Language was the spiritul evolutionay down fall of man...it was not the garden of eden.
Tone and intention are the sounds of what is in the soul.
This is why music can be alchemical, transforming. But even the same song doesnt have the same meaning for everyone, it all depends on where they are at spiritually in thier understanding.
The whole living world(aninmals, plants, air, the solar system) uses tone to convey , not words.
"I love you" can be said in a soft whisper, a condesendng smirking question or a desperate plead. Each and every word has a different meaning to each and every person, depending on thier experience with that word and the tone used to convey it.
Ever wonder why at the base of human nature, everyone feels the need to be heard to be validated in this exsitance? It's not the words that need to be heard, deep down we know words are nothing. We just want someone to hear what is in our soul. We just stupidly try to use words because that is all we know.
I wrote this because I was reading comments to a friends blog and someone chastized her because they felt the word "tribe" was too powerful to be used in a public form...eh em(yes the word "tribe"). They obviously felt intimidated by the actual question so they tried to divert, pontificate and attempt to intimidate and hide thier own inability to respond in an intelligent manner. Kudos to my friend for responding in such a dipomatic manner. I did not respond on her blog out of respect for her and how she chooses to deal with that person . But I do see people try to do this to others in the pagan community all of the time and I usually dont say anything just watch and see how it unfolds. When someone attempts it with me , I am not as diplomatic as my friend. I try but ...I guess..words fail me. :)
